Shadows in Rio
Monica hadn’t chosen Brazil at random. It was a calculated move. She knew that the chaos of Rio de Janeiro the anonymity of its crowded favelas, the noise, the heat, the corruption would swallow her whole, hide her like a grain of sand on a beach already full of secrets. She arrived with a forged passport under the name Ana Souza. A former associate from her past life, a fixer she had once helped out of a tight spot in Naples had arranged everything: papers, transport, and a temporary safe house in Santa Teresa. There, Monica didn’t sleep for the first three nights. She kept the lights off, watched the street from the window, and counted every motorcycle that passed by. She was safe for now but the calm was temporary. Always was.She made contact with only one person: Beatriz, a local woman with ties to both the underground and the activists. Beatriz didn’t ask questions. She just looked at Monica with sharp eyes and said, “Whatever you did, don’t get caught here. Prison in Brazil makes Italy look like a resort.”Meanwhile, back in Italy, investigators were in disarray. Interpol had issued a red notice, and whispers were circulating that Monica had not simply fled, she had taken something with her. Not money. Not files. Information.Someone important had started to panic.Back in Brazil, Monica began to move. Carefully. Slowly. She dyed her hair, altered her posture, even changed how she spoke. But old habits die hard. One night, she saw a familiar tattoo on a man at a bar in Lapa, a small scorpion behind the ear.Her past was catching up.That night, Monica returned to her safehouse to find the door unlocked. She froze. Inside, everything was untouched except for one thing: on the table, a red rose. Fresh. No note. No message.A warning.Someone had found her.She knew what she had to do now. No more hiding. No more running. It was time to go on the offensive. Monica dug up a buried phone from under a loose tile in the floor. She powered it on and dialed a number she hadn’t used in years. It rang once. Then twice.A voice answered:“You shouldn’t be calling me.”Monica’s voice was cold. Determined.“They found me. It’s time. I’m bringing everything into the light.”The line went dead.

Hello again guys 🙂
I must praise your idea of bringing something in English on the website 🙂 and the story itself, if still too short (I’m sure you can do better) it’s becoming very interesting 🙂
Just few corrections to make the story more readable :
“frequent the neighbourhood” is not used at all in English is better use the form : “all those who were often going to that neighbourhood”
“everything made ONE think” again better refer that sentence to the police investigating the scene and use the form “everything made THEM think”
on this part “witnesses said that Alessio was arguing with Tommy, but then they couldn’t give a description of Tommy” how did they know Alessio was actually arguing with Tommy? Doesn’t really make sense …
This is only my personal opinion , take it as a way of improvement 🙂
I vote the unknown person , I like mystery and thrillers 🙂
keep up the good work and see you all at the next chapter 🙂

Good afternoon guys
I like the idea that you want to practice your english using the website but I will give you some suggestions on to create an even better story.
First try to use all the characters that the site offers you : not 10, not 20 but 5000 , that’s the real challenge. In this chapter you only describe a scene , but you could have described better the inspector and the detective , and add a little background to the story or the reason why we should be voting for one of the names you written there.
So I will follow you and I’m expecting with the next chapter a little bit more details “in english” and for you to try and use all of the 5000 characters given
see you all soon 🙂
